An Exciting Update: Got Strings Is Joining Forces with Southern Strings!
If you’ve worked with Got Strings over the years: first of all, thank you. Truly. This business has been one of the greatest joys of my life, and I’m so grateful to the planners, venues, and creative partners who have trusted us with their couples’ most meaningful moments!
You may have noticed a new name popping up lately: Southern Strings. And if you’re wondering “Wait… are these the same people?” or “Is Got Strings still a thing?” this post will answer all of your questions directly, clearly, and honestly. Let’s dive in!
The Short Version?
Got Strings and Southern Strings are officially joining forces under one name: Southern Strings, and everything you love about Got Strings is staying exactly the same.
Same musicians.
Same leadership (hi, it’s still me, Kristi! 👋).
Same commitment to quality, professionalism, and stress-free planning.
Just one brand moving forward, and an exciting expansion ahead.
From a College Side Hustle to a Leading Virginia String Ensemble
Let’s back up, shall we?
Hi, I’m Kristi, and I founded Got Strings back in 2016 when I was a 20-year-old college student at James Madison University just trying to… well… get more gigs.
At the time, I had no idea what Got Strings would become.
What started as a small ensemble quickly grew into one of the most trusted string groups for weddings and special events in the Shenandoah Valley and Central Virginia. Over the years, Got Strings has performed for literally hundreds of weddings and events in Harrisonburg, Charlottesville, Richmond, Lynchburg, and beyond.
We were even featured in a local news segment and the newspaper!
Over the years, Got Strings became known for:
Exceptional musicianship
Reliable, professional communication
And a calm, supportive planning experience for couples and vendors alike
In the summer of 2018, after graduating college, I moved to Nashville. And yes, I continued running Got Strings remotely (thank you, spreadsheets and Google Drive!)
The Birth of Southern Strings
Fast forward to early 2021, when I met Claire. Together, we realized something important: the Got Strings model (high-quality musicians, thoughtful coordination, and a vendor-friendly experience) ould absolutely thrive beyond Virginia.
So, we built Southern Strings with that same foundation, starting in Tennessee and expanding quickly throughout Nashville, Chattanooga, Knoxville, and even Huntsville, Bowling Green, and beyond!
Just like Got Strings, Southern Strings took off faster than we ever imagined.
And over time, it became clear that we weren’t running two separate businesses… We were running one shared vision, just under two different names.
Why We’re Combining Brands (And Why This Is a Good Thing)
Fast forward to now.
Five years after launching Southern Strings and nearly a decade after starting Got Strings, it no longer makes sense to operate under two brand identities.
The musicians overlap. The leadership overlaps. The values are identical.
So we’re simplifying!
Got Strings is officially joining Southern Strings, allowing us to:
Create one cohesive brand experience
Streamline communication and booking
Expand thoughtfully into new markets
And better serve our planner and venue partners
This also means something very exciting for Virginia…
Southern Strings Is Expanding in Virginia (and Launching in DC!)
Southern Strings will continue to serve all of the regions Got Strings has always covered, including:
Harrisonburg
Charlottesville
Richmond
Lynchburg
The greater Shenandoah Valley
And now, we’re thrilled to officially announce our expansion into Washington, DC!
For planners and venues, this means:
The same trusted team you already know
A growing roster of exceptional musicians
And a brand built to support events across multiple markets seamlessly
If you’ve booked Got Strings in the past, you can expect the same quality, the same musicians, and the same attention to detail, just under the Southern Strings name.
A Note to Our Planner & Venue Partners
If you’ve referred Got Strings for years (thank you ❤️), please know how deeply we value those relationships.
Nothing about how we work together needs to change, except the name you’re using.
Contracts, expectations, professionalism, and musical excellence remain exactly the same. And yes, I (Kristi) will still be the main point of contact for all Virginia events!
Looking Ahead
This transition isn’t about leaving something behind. It’s about honoring where we started while making room for where we’re going.
Got Strings will always be part of our story, and now, that story continues as Southern Strings.
I’m so excited for what’s ahead and incredibly grateful to the planners, venues, and creatives who have supported us along the way.
